The Perfect Touch: Staining & Glazing Ceramic Crowns Hands-On Course

Course Description:

Achieving esthetic results for In-house milled restorations can be very stressful. There are two main ways to process a milled restoration’s surface: mechanical polishing or staining and glazing. In this hands-on course we will show you how to properly and efficiently stain and glaze restorations to help you achieve mechanically, beautifully esthetic results. A smooth restoration is essential so bacteria doesn't adhere to a rough surface and your restoration will have better long-term color stability.

These techniques can be applied to a various ceramic restorations.

Course Objectives:

1. Learn what equipment and stain colors to use to produce seamless esthetic restorations Selecting the correct polishers for each material is essential to polish it successfully.

2. Understanding the difference between polishing and staining.

3. Glazing, usually accompanied with staining or characterization.

4. Techniques include achieving enamel cracks, fissure lines and cervical blending.

5. Green state characterization of zirconia.

6. Shade matching and achieving an excellent match using the Matisse Optishade.

7. Simple staining techniques using miyo stains.

8. Literature Review.

Speakers Bio:

Speakers: Dr. Matt Wimmer and Jacob Huot, CDT

Dr. Matthew Wimmer studied biomedical engineering at Marquette University prior to attending dental school at Tufts University. 

Dr. Wimmer completed a 1 year internship in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and a 1 year Implant continuum. He makes maximum usage of technology utilizing CBCT, Microscopes, Lasers, and a full production digital dental laboratory in office. He has extensive experience with diode, CO2 hard and soft tissue lasers, as well as ND:YAG applications particularly for treating periodontal diseases and biostimulation. 

Dr. Wimmer maintains a private practice in Centennial, Colorado

· Registration is not considered final until payment is received.

· Email confirmation will be sent out within one week of receipt.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

· Cancellations made by June 28, 2024: full refund minus $10 administration fee

· Cancellations after June 28, 2024 : no refund and $10 administration fee

Colorado AGD shall be under no obligation to reschedule any course which has been canceled. Colorado AGD shall be under no obligation to offer meals or refreshments at any of its courses and is under no obligation to accommodate any special dietary restrictions at courses where meals are offered.

Colorado AGD will not be liable for any expenses incurred by any registrant for attendance at a course, including but not limited to: travel expenses, accommodations, meals, salaries, wages, and loss of income, or for participant’s failure to attend a course.
