VAGD SUMMER MASTERTRACK - SOLD OUT

AUGUST 9TH-10TH, 2024

Friday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Saturday: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Bay View Dental Lab

Chesapeake, VA

6 CE - Prosthodontics/Fixed (610) and 6 CE - Occlusion (180)

Course Descriptions and Objectives:

Modern restorative dentists must be able to recognize functional problems, identify options for managing those problems and be proficient when performing treatment. Clinical skill, however, is only the first layer of clinical excellence; individual patient and practice-model realities are additional layers that must be navigated by modern clinicians.

This 1.5-day interactive lecture and hands-on course is designed to provide practical applications for more complex comprehensive cases that easily transfer to everyday restorative dentistry. Through a combination of presentations and hands-on exercises, participants will learn:

  • To create predictable functional outcomes to support the desired esthetic outcome.
  • When it is safe to use the existing occlusion; and when it isn’t.
  • Options for managing a problematic occlusion.
  • Confidently and comprehensively evaluate, plan, and treat small through large cases from the standpoint of the clinician, the patient, and the practice.

Event Details:

Bay View is a full service lab, now serving dentists through three generations for almost 75 years. Owners Buddy and Rick Shafer are both Board Certified Technicians and still work full time at the bench. They are joined by an experienced team of technicians and support staff with a shared passion for dental technology and service to dentistry.

Registration opens at 8:00 am, course to begin promptly at 8:30 am.

Coffee, soft drinks and water will be available throughout the day, lunch will be provided Friday only.

Dr. Darin Dichter

Dr. Dichter brings nearly 30 years of clinical, research and teaching experience — as a general practitioner and prosthodontist — to his position with Spear. He currently serves as an instructor in the Treating the Terminal Dentition and Fully Edentulous Patient seminar, in addition to multiple Spear Campus Workshops.

Dr. Dichter has served as a guest lecturer and clinical instructor at Oregon Health and Science University School of Dentistry, teaching occlusion and esthetics. He has been a Spear faculty member since the company’s inception, as well as a contributing author for Spear Digest. He is passionate about education and is involved with multiple study groups in the U.S. and Canada.

After earning his D.M.D. from OHSU in 1995, Dr. Dichter practiced general dentistry and eventually joined a startup practice in his hometown in coastal Oregon before moving to a practice in Portland. He brought 16 years of restorative dental experience into UCLA's world-renowned, full-time advanced prosthodontics residency, which he completed in 2014.
